James Ronnie Woodard, a 46-year-old white male, was a dedicated Lieutenant with the Metro Nashville Police Department. On October 9, 1991, he was tragically shot and killed in the early morning hours while performing his duties. Lieutenant Woodard had stopped a car he suspected to be stolen. The suspect pulled the vehicle into a bank parking lot at 747 Fessiers Lane and opened fire as Lieutenant Woodard approached the car.
