In the early hours of a March morning in 2015, the quiet of a Johnson City, Tennessee apartment complex on Mint Hill Road was shattered by the sound of gunfire. Inside one of the apartments, a physical altercation between two men had taken a fatal turn. When police arrived, they found 24-year-old LeDearrius Young, a male, lying on the kitchen floor with multiple gunshot wounds.
Witnesses at the scene described a heated confrontation between Young and another man, identified as
22-year-old Amando Stewart of Chattanooga, Tennessee. The argument escalated quickly, culminating in the deadly shooting. Accounts from those present indicated that Stewart was seen holding a handgun immediately after the shots were fired.
Based on the witness statements and the evidence at the scene, Johnson City police arrested Amando Stewart. He was initially charged with second-degree murder and booked into the Washington County Detention Center.
Ultimately, Amando Stewart pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of voluntary manslaughter in the shooting death of LeDearrius Young.
