In the early hours of a Monday morning in Johnson City, Tennessee, a disagreement over property escalated into a fatal encounter for Joshua Caylin Alexander. The 22-year-old man had arranged to meet another individual at a gas station off Milligan Highway on June 14, 2021, to discuss personal belongings that had reportedly been taken from him.
What began as a discussion soon turned into a heated argument.
In the midst of the confrontation, a single shot was fired, striking Joshua in the chest. Emergency services were called to the scene, and he was quickly transported to a local hospital. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Joshua Caylin Alexander succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The individual he had met with, identified as 23-year-old Randy Cantor, initially fled the scene after the shooting. However, he later returned and was taken into custody by the Johnson City Police Department. Following an investigation into the incident, Cantor was charged with second-degree murder in connection with Joshua's death. He was subsequently jailed on a $100,000 bond and was scheduled for an arraignment in a Washington County courtroom.
