In the early hours of a Monday in Memphis, Tennessee, the life of Andre Jones Sr., a 46-year-old African American man, was brought to an abrupt and violent end. On June 27, 2016, as he was preparing to leave his home in the Northwood Hills neighborhood for his job as a Shelby County Vector Control employee, the power to his house was suddenly cut. When Mr. Jones went outside to investigate the outage at his residence on Longtree Street, he was ambushed.
