In the summer of 2024, the life of 17-year-old Javonta Newsom, a Black male from Memphis, Tennessee, was tragically cut short. On the evening of June 9th, Newsom was fatally wounded by gunfire in the Westhaven area of Memphis. The incident left a community in mourning and a family searching for answers that have yet to come.
