On a summer evening in Memphis, Tennessee, the life of 23-year-old Mark Thomas Jr. was tragically cut short. On July 28, 2023, officers responded to a call of a shooting at an apartment complex in the Berclair neighborhood. There, in the parking lot on Summer Avenue, they found Thomas, a male, who had been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the death of Mark Thomas Jr. led Memphis Police to identify a suspect.
Less than a day after the fatal shooting, authorities announced the arrest of Don Jackson. Witnesses at the apartment complex told investigators they saw the two men in the parking lot prior to the sound of gunfire.
Following his arrest, Don Jackson was charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Mark Thomas Jr. He was booked into the Shelby County jail. The case is proceeding through the criminal justice system.
