In the summer of 2019, a confrontation in the Whitehaven neighborhood of Memphis, Tennessee, turned deadly, claiming the life of 27-year-old Kelvin Collins. On June 2nd, in the 3600 block of Queensland, Collins was fatally shot multiple times. The incident stemmed from an alleged dispute involving Brittany Brantley.
According to police reports, the confrontation involved Brittany Brantley, her brother Darius Brantley, and their friend, Perry Tard.
Witnesses reported that multiple people inside a 2010 Dodge Avenger opened fire on Collins. He was struck several times and rushed to the Regional Medical Center, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. Another individual, Perry Tard, was also injured during the shooting and was taken to Methodist South Hospital for treatment.
Following an investigation into the shooting, arrests were made. Darius Brantley was charged with first-degree murder. His sister, Brittany Brantley, faced charges of facilitation of first-degree murder and tampering with evidence. Authorities stated that after dropping both men off at the hospital, Brittany Brantley left with the murder weapon, which was never recovered. Perry Tard was also charged with facilitation of first-degree murder.
