In the summer of 2016, a tragedy unfolded in the small community of Buchanan, Tennessee, leaving family and friends to mourn the loss of Stephanie Renee Boyd. A 47-year-old White female, Stephanie was a familiar and friendly face to many, known for her work as a lab technician at the Henry County Medical Center and as a member of the Friendship Baptist Church.
Her life was abruptly cut short on July 28, 2016, in an event that would be ruled a murder-suicide.
On that Thursday morning, deputies from the Henry County Sheriff's Department were dispatched to the Boyd residence on Buchanan Road after receiving a report of a disturbance. Upon their arrival, they discovered a grim scene. Stephanie Boyd had been shot multiple times by her husband, William Timothy 'Tim' Boyd. After taking his wife's life, he then turned the gun on himself.
The investigation that followed confirmed the initial assessment of the scene. The Henry County Sheriff's Department concluded that the deaths were the result of a murder-suicide, with Tim Boyd as the sole perpetrator. As the individual responsible for Stephanie's death was also deceased, no arrests were made, and the case was subsequently closed.
Stephanie, who was born on May 30, 1969, was survived by her daughter, Olivia, and her son, William Andrew 'Drew' Boyd. Her passing was a profound loss to her family and the community that knew her. Described in her obituary as a beautiful person both inside and out, her death was deeply mourned by all who had known her. Funeral services were held on August 1, 2016, at Ridgeway Funeral Home, and she was laid to rest at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Buchanan.
