In the heart of Nashville, Tennessee, a life was tragically cut short, leaving a family and community to grapple with a sudden and violent loss. Derrick Stafford, a 40-year-old man, became the victim of a fatal encounter that unfolded on a September evening in 2016.
The incident occurred on Second Avenue, where an argument escalated to gunfire. Stafford was at an apartment when 24-year-old Tyson Oglesby allegedly arrived and a dispute ensued. The verbal altercation quickly turned violent when Oglesby reportedly opened fire, striking Stafford. Two women who were also inside the apartment were injured during the shooting. In the ensuing chaos, Stafford managed to return fire, hitting Oglesby.
Following the shootout, law enforcement authorities apprehended Tyson Oglesby.
