On a summer evening in Nashville, Tennessee, an argument at a drug store tragically escalated, leading to the death of Brian Kuffrey. The 42-year-old man was fatally shot outside his room at the Nashville Airport Inn and Suites on Atrium Way on July 17, 2020. The incident unfolded about an hour after Kuffrey was involved in an altercation at a nearby store on Donelson Pike.
Authorities believe that two men from the earlier dispute followed Kuffrey to the motel.
At approximately 6:36 p.m., police responded to a shooting call and found him critically wounded by a gunshot to the chest. He was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, but the injury proved fatal and he succumbed to it shortly after arrival.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, investigators began a search for the two male suspects. Law enforcement released a public plea for assistance, describing the getaway vehicles as a silver Jeep Cherokee and a red Chrysler PT Cruiser. Surveillance photos of the unidentified men were distributed in the hope that someone from the community would recognize them and come forward. Callers were assured that they could remain anonymous and might be eligible for a cash reward for information leading to the capture of the individuals responsible for the homicide.
