In the autumn of 2017, a life was tragically cut short in Nashville, Tennessee. Quinton Thornton, a 35-year-old male, was fatally shot on October 6, 2017, at a Marathon gas station located on John A. Merritt Boulevard. The incident unfolded following a verbal altercation between Thornton and the occupants of a Lincoln Continental. As the argument escalated, Thornton walked over to the Lincoln, at which point he was shot in the back.
Despite being rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, he succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into the shooting led authorities to identify two suspects. The alleged getaway driver, 20-year-old Terry Martin, was apprehended in Dyersburg on October 9, 2017. The suspected gunman, 57-year-old Danny Haskins, was also arrested in Dyersburg on October 22, 2017. Witnesses reported that after the shooting, Haskins entered the passenger side of the Lincoln Continental, and the vehicle fled the scene.
