In the early hours of May 23, 2017, a grim discovery was made at the James Cayce Homes in East Nashville. Responding to a call at 12:50 a.m., Metro Police officers found two men shot. One of them was 22-year-old Brandon Jordan. He was found lying on the ground near the porch of an apartment, having been shot in the upper torso. Tragically, Jordan died at the scene.
The other victim, Eric Allen, 38, who lived at the apartment, was found in the doorway with multiple gunshot wounds to his chest and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at a local hospital.
Investigators quickly began to piece together the events of that fatal night, with robbery being the suspected motive. Their investigation led to the indictment of three individuals in connection with the double murder. Tramell R. Sparkman, 28, of Columbia, was indicted by a Davidson County grand jury on two counts of murder. In addition to the murder charges, Sparkman also faced charges for an attempted burglary and another shooting that occurred on subsequent days.
Further investigation led to the indictment of two women on two counts of felony murder and two counts of robbery. Taylor Roberts, 19, was arrested in Maury County. The third suspect, Shakiria Webster, 20, was already in custody in Sumner County on an unrelated matter at the time of her indictment. The arrests brought a measure of progress in a case that had ended two lives.
