In the late hours of New Year's Day 2017, the community of Nolensville, Tennessee, was disturbed by what some residents initially dismissed as celebratory fireworks. In reality, these sounds were gunshots that ended the life of 43-year-old Robert Ward, a white male, inside his Sam Donald Road home. His 10-year-old son, who was also in the house at the time but was physically unharmed, tragically discovered his father in a pool of blood and called 911.
