Timothy Sean Carver, a 55-year-old man, was fatally shot on the evening of November 12, 2021, at a Margaritas restaurant in Millington, Tennessee. A lifelong resident of the Millington area, Carver was known as an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
On the night of the incident, another customer, Juston McKnight, 30, of Memphis, became irate and was causing a disturbance at the restaurant.
Carver intervened to assist the restaurant's management in removing McKnight from the premises. Approximately 20 minutes after being escorted out, McKnight returned to the restaurant armed with a handgun. He then opened fire on Carver, who was on the patio. Carver was struck multiple times and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Following an all-night investigation, law enforcement located and arrested McKnight the next morning. He was subsequently charged with first-degree murder and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. During his arrest, McKnight reportedly told officers that if Carver had not pushed and hit him, he would not have killed him.
In July 2022, a grand jury indicted Juston McKnight on the charges of first-degree murder and aggravated assault. He was held on a $1,000,000 bond. The case was then set to proceed through the Shelby County criminal justice system.
