On a tragic evening in Nashville, Tennessee, the life of 41-year-old Amy Williams was cut short in an act of violence. On Saturday, June 17, 2017, Williams, a female nurse practitioner, was fatally shot by her ex-boyfriend in East Nashville.
That night, Williams was standing outside her home on Fatherland Street, talking with her sister as she was about to leave. Her ex-boyfriend, 40-year-old Andrew Tucker, drove by and then circled back, parking his pickup truck near her home.
Williams walked over to his truck and spoke with him for about five minutes. Witnesses reported that there was no audible argument or confrontation before Tucker fired a gun, shooting Williams.
After shooting Williams, Tucker returned to his truck and took his own life with a gunshot to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Amy Williams was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
The couple had been in a relationship for four months, and Williams had ended it just a week prior to the shooting. According to police, there was no history of domestic violence reported between the two. The incident was investigated as a murder-suicide, and as the sole suspect in Williams' death died at the scene, there were no arrests or trial.
