Steve McNair, a 36-year-old African-American former NFL quarterback, was tragically killed on July 4, 2009, in Nashville, Tennessee. McNair, nicknamed 'Air McNair,' was shot by his girlfriend, Sahel 'Jenni' Kazemi, in a murder-suicide. Kazemi, a 19-year-old waitress, had been involved in a romantic relationship with McNair since early 2009. The couple's affair led to mounting financial concerns and emotional distress for Kazemi.
