On a Tuesday afternoon in Nashville, Tennessee, a seemingly minor traffic incident on Interstate 65 escalated into a fatal encounter for 46-year-old Kerry Willerton. The white man was driving on I-65 north, between the Trinity Lane exit and the I-24 split, when his vehicle was struck from behind by a white pickup truck. Following the collision, both drivers pulled over to the side of the interstate.
An altercation ensued, and the driver of the pickup truck shot Willerton.
Tragically, Willerton did not realize the severity of his injury. He told his girlfriend that he had been involved in a road rage incident and believed he had been shot with an airsoft gun. The truck was described as a possible white Chevrolet with four doors, tinted windows, a winch on the front bumper, and a specialty license plate that may have featured an American flag emblem.
In the wake of the tragedy, Willerton's girlfriend and friends have actively sought justice, distributing flyers with the description of the suspect's vehicle to raise public awareness. They have expressed immense grief and frustration, particularly over the lack of surveillance footage from the area of the incident. While law enforcement officials have stated they have a suspect identified, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and the investigation remains ongoing.
