In the late hours of a warm Saturday evening in East Nashville, a community block party on Oakwood Avenue, filled with the sounds of music and laughter, turned into a scene of tragedy. On August 2, 2025, amidst the celebration, gunfire suddenly erupted, causing chaos and panic among the partygoers. It was during this pandemonium that 20-year-old Nevaeh Wilson, a resident of Nashville, was tragically killed.
As shots rang out just after 11:15 p.m., attendees scattered in all directions,
desperately seeking safety. Nevaeh was among those trying to escape the violence when she was struck in the lower back by a stray bullet. She was rushed to Skyline Medical Center, but her injuries proved fatal, and she was pronounced dead. The large crime scene spanned from 2405 to 2608 Oakwood Avenue, a testament to the widespread nature of the incident.
In the aftermath of the shooting, another victim was identified a 24-year-old man who sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center by a private vehicle but has since been uncooperative with investigators, refusing to provide any information about the shooting.
