In the late summer of 2017, the life of Veronica Marie Warren, a 30-year-old woman from Nashville, Tennessee, came to a tragic and violent end. Known to her loved ones as 'Ronnie,' she was a mother to five daughters. Her life, however, was marked by a personal battle with addiction that began in her teenage years.
On August 17, 2017, the turmoil in Veronica’s life culminated in a horrific event inside her home on Chickasaw Avenue in East Nashville. Her boyfriend, 41-year-old Terry Moyers, fatally shot her. Shortly after committing the act, Moyers himself contacted the Metro Nashville Police Department, confessing to the murder of his girlfriend and stating his intention to take his own life.
When law enforcement arrived at the residence, they found Moyers in the driveway with a pistol to his head. Despite their attempts to de-escalate the situation and persuade him to surrender, Moyers tragically ended his own life in their presence. Officers then discovered Veronica's body in a bedroom within the house.
The couple's three-year-old daughter was present in the home at the time of the murder-suicide but was thankfully taken to safety by neighbors before she could witness the final moments of the tragedy unfold. It was reported that police had been called to the couple's home for domestic disputes in the past, though none had previously involved violence. In the aftermath, the Department of Children's Services was involved to ensure the well-being of the young child left without both of her parents.
