On November 24, 2017, the decomposed body of Callie Mahayla Mia Ison, a 26-year-old woman from Big Stone Gap, Virginia, was discovered by a deer hunter in a creek in the Clinch Community of Hawkins County, Tennessee. An autopsy revealed that Ison, a mother of two, had been shot multiple times, and her death was ruled a homicide.
