In the quiet community of Sidonia, near Sharon, Tennessee, a domestic dispute escalated into a tragic and fatal encounter. On the morning of October 23, 2022, 42-year-old Samantha Hodges was attempting to leave her residence on Adams Road. As she sat in her vehicle, her husband, 46-year-old Charles Hodges, approached and fired a muzzle-loading rifle through the driver's side window, striking and killing her.
Shortly after shooting his wife, Charles Hodges turned the same rifle on
himself, ending his own life. Law enforcement from the Weakley County Sheriff's Department and the Sharon Police Department responded to a 911 call that morning and discovered the scene. Evidence at the residence indicated a murder-suicide had occurred.
Authorities reported that no one else was present at the home at the time of the incident. The investigation confirmed that Samantha Hodges was trying to flee the residence when she was killed.
