In the quiet community of Hermitage, Tennessee, a shocking act of violence shattered the peace on a September evening in 2019. Leigh Shea-Majors, a 61-year-old woman, was tragically killed in her home on Dockside Drive. The devastating event, which occurred on September 7th, also claimed the life of her beloved 6-year-old grandson, Ty Dodson. The person responsible for this horrific act was someone close to them, Leigh's 64-year-old husband, Terry Majors.

On that fateful evening, Terry Majors turned a. 357-caliber revolver on his wife and grandson, fatally shooting them both before taking his own life. The motive behind the violent outburst remains unclear, as those who knew the family described Terry as a loving grandfather with no significant history of criminal behavior. The suddenness and brutality of the event left the community and their extended family in a state of profound shock and disbelief.

A small beacon of hope emerged from the tragedy in the form of Leigh and Terry's 4-year-old granddaughter. She was present in the home at the time of the shootings but managed to escape unharmed. Her courage in fleeing to a neighbor's house for help was a crucial element in the discovery of the devastating scene. In the aftermath, as investigators pieced together the events of that night, there were no immediate answers as to what prompted Terry Majors to commit such a violent act against his own family. The investigation concluded that it was a double murder-suicide, leaving a permanent scar on the lives of all who knew and loved Leigh Shea-Majors and young Ty Dodson.
