In the early morning hours of June 29, 2018, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the life of 46-year-old Christopher Robinson was tragically cut short in a violent home invasion. Robinson, a Black / African American man, was at home with his family when he was awakened by a loud noise. As he went to investigate, he was confronted by two masked intruders who were demanding money. In a heroic act to protect his loved ones, Robinson confronted the assailants and was fatally shot during the struggle. His family has since remembered him as a hero for his selfless actions in his final moments.
The investigation into the senseless killing led to the swift arrest of 20-year-old Miles Hankins, who was charged with criminal homicide and especially aggravated robbery. Further investigation revealed the involvement of two other individuals, 22-year-old Ticalvius Armour and an unnamed juvenile, who were subsequently arrested and faced the same charges. Authorities determined that the home invasion was not a random act of gang violence, and it appeared the Robinson family had no prior connection to the suspects.
In the ensuing legal proceedings, Miles Hankins ultimately pleaded guilty to the murder of Christopher Robinson. As a result of his plea, he was sentenced to serve 30 years in prison. The cases against Ticalvius Armour and the juvenile suspect were reported to be still pending. The profound loss of Christopher Robinson has left a lasting impact on his family and the wider Chattanooga community, who came together to offer their support in the wake of the tragedy.
