On his way to work before dawn on August 15, 2024, Eugene Carson was shot and killed in what authorities believe may have been a road rage incident. The 61-year-old male was driving his truck in Chattanooga, Tennessee, when the driver of a silver or gray Kia Sportage pulled up alongside him at a red light on Rossville Boulevard and opened fire.
Surveillance footage shows the suspect's vehicle, described as a 2020 to 2022 model, had been following Carson's truck for a couple of miles.
The attack, which occurred at the intersection of East 37th Street, is being investigated as an ambush-style attack.
Originally from Orange County, New York, Carson was a U.S. Navy veteran who had worked for Koch Foods for over two decades after his military service. His family remembers him as a hardworking and outgoing man who was devoted to his family.
As of now, no arrests have been made in the case. The Chattanooga Police Department has asked for the public's help in identifying the suspect's vehicle, which has dark-colored wheels, possibly gunmetal gray, silver roof rails, and working fog lights, but no sunroof. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered by Crime Stoppers for any information that leads to the identification of the person responsible for Eugene Carson's death.
