On September 11, 2024, 16-year-old Mi'Khy Kamir Sullivan Birdsong, a student at Brainerd High School in Chattanooga, Tennessee, was fatally shot while walking in the 1400 block of Lillian Lane. The tragic incident occurred in the afternoon, and Mi'Khy was pronounced dead at the scene.
