In the late hours of a Wednesday night in Nashville, Tennessee, the life of 31-year-old Lam Kwok Lung was brought to an abrupt and violent end. On July 24, 2019, just after 10 p.m., he was found deceased beside his vehicle near the carport of a home on Harding Place where he had been renting a room for about two months. He had been shot multiple times in what investigators believe was a targeted attack.
It is thought that he was confronted just as he arrived at the residence.
Midtown Hills Precinct detectives began an investigation that soon pointed towards a possible connection to the drug trade. This theory was strengthened by a search of Lung's rented room, which uncovered over $25,000 in cash and various items consistent with drug trafficking. Despite having a driver's license that listed a Duluth, Georgia address, authorities were working to piece together the details of his time in Nashville.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, a witness reported seeing a four-door sedan, possibly red, fleeing eastward on Harding Place as the sound of gunfire echoed through the neighborhood. However, this lead did not immediately result in the identification of any suspects.
