On August 28, 2021, Malachi Fondren, a 21-year-old man from Nashville, TN, was fatally shot at the Stewarts Ferry Apartments on Stones River Cove. The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. when Fondren was visiting a woman at her apartment. Her ex-boyfriend, 27-year-old Deandre Jajuan Dean, arrived at the scene and an altercation ensued, leading to Fondren being shot multiple times.
