Stephen R. Lopez Jr., a 30-year-old male from Cannon County, was shot and killed on April 9, 2020, at a residence in the 1100 block of North Rutherford Boulevard in Murfreesboro, TN. The investigation into his death led to the arrest of James E. Evans III, who was 27 years old at the time of the incident. Evans was taken into custody on April 12, 2020, and charged with second-degree murder. He has remained in custody since then, with his bond set at $85,000.
