On February 13, 2022, a woman arranged to retrieve her personal belongings from her ex-boyfriend's residence located in the 5300 block of Nancy Seward Drive. She had requested a police standby for the exchange, a detail that underscores the potential for conflict.
While on the phone with dispatchers, the simmering tensions erupted into
violence. An altercation broke out between Lindsey, a Black male, and the woman's former boyfriend. The dispute quickly intensified, culminating in gunfire. In the aftermath, three individuals were found with gunshot wounds.
Brandon Lindsey was critically injured in the shooting and was transported to a nearby hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The ex-boyfriend and his mother were also wounded during the incident and received treatment at the hospital for their injuries. The Murfreesboro Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division launched an investigation into the fatal shooting.
