In the city of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, a 22-year-old man, Roger Battle, was found dead on London View Drive. The discovery was made after police responded to a call of "shots fired" in the 3100 block of South Church Street on the evening of Friday, January 31, 2026. Upon arrival, officers found another man on Meigs Drive with a gunshot wound who was subsequently hospitalized.
Continuing their search of the area, authorities then located Battle, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds
and was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators with the Murfreesboro Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit are actively looking into the shooting. They have indicated that they do not believe the incident was a random act of violence.
Detectives have suggested that the shooting could possibly be drug-related. Adding to the scene, three vehicles parked on London View Drive were also damaged by gunfire. As of early February 2026, the investigation into Roger Battle's death was ongoing. There have been no public announcements regarding any arrests made or specific suspects identified in connection with the homicide.
