In the early morning hours of April 24, 2021, Byrall Maurice Webb Jr., a 32-year-old African American man, was fatally shot in the parking lot of the House of Hummus on Middle Tennessee Boulevard in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Known affectionately as 'Bubba G,' Webb was a father of five. His fiancée was present at the scene of the shooting.
Murfreesboro police identified Apollo Shandale Cantrell, then 26 years old, as a person of interest in the case.
A murder warrant was later issued for Cantrell for the fatal shooting of Webb, who was found with multiple gunshot wounds. For a period, Cantrell managed to evade law enforcement.
In February 2023, it was reported that evidence in the murder of Byrall Webb Jr. was scheduled to be presented to a Rutherford County Grand Jury in March of that year. At that time, Apollo Shandale Cantrell was facing a charge of second-degree murder, as well as a charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The investigation into Webb's death continues, and authorities have asked for the public's assistance in locating Cantrell.
