In the late afternoon of September 2, 2020, tragic events unfolded on Wilson Street in Chattanooga, Tennessee, forever altering the lives of one family. Tramell Harris, a 27-year-old Black man, was caught in a burst of gunfire that left him and another young man, aged 19, with serious injuries. Emergency services rushed both victims to a nearby hospital.
While the 19-year-old survived his non-life-threatening wounds, Harris was not as fortunate and ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
For more than two years, the investigation into Tramell Harris's death continued, a period of uncertainty for his loved ones and the community. The Chattanooga Police Department's Violent Crimes Bureau diligently worked the case, meticulously gathering evidence and conducting interviews with potential witnesses. The community's cooperation played a crucial role in the lengthy and complex investigation into this act of gun violence. After a thorough and protracted investigation, a grand jury returned an indictment against Teatio Cal in connection with the fatal shooting. Cal now faces grave charges, including first-degree murder for the death of Tramell Harris and attempted first-degree murder for the injuries sustained by the second victim. The legal proceedings against Teatio Cal are currently ongoing.
