In the late fall of 2020, a Chattanooga man's life was cut short in a violent encounter that would lead to a swift arrest. Timothy Taylor, a 38-year-old male, was fatally shot on November 30, 2020. The incident unfolded on South Willow Street, where Taylor had reportedly gone to collect money.
According to witness accounts, upon his arrival, Taylor was met with gunfire.
Jaylon Lebron Hill, who was 23 at the time, allegedly approached Taylor's vehicle armed with a handgun and opened fire, striking him multiple times. Taylor was transported to Erlanger Hospital in critical condition but ultimately succumbed to a gunshot wound to the head.
The investigation conducted by the Chattanooga Police Department's Violent Crimes Bureau quickly pointed to Hill as the suspect. He was located and taken into custody the day after the shooting, on December 1, 2020, after being seen at the scene of the crime.
Following his arrest, Jaylon Lebron Hill faced a series of serious charges in connection with Timothy Taylor's death. These charges included first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. The shooting was one of three that occurred in the Oak Grove community within a short period, raising concerns about gun violence in the area.
