In the early morning hours of October 3, 2020, a fatal encounter unfolded in the rear parking lot of the InTown Suites on Myatt Drive in Madison, Tennessee, claiming the life of Elmer Allen Rea. A 41-year-old male, Rea was walking in the parking lot when a black four-door sedan, believed to be a Hyundai with tinted windows, approached him.
A man, who was initially a passenger in the vehicle, engaged in a brief verbal exchange with Rea before exiting the car and opening fire.
The gunman then quickly fled the scene in the same sedan, leaving Rea fatally wounded. Law enforcement officials later identified Rea through his fingerprints.
In the wake of the shooting, Homicide Unit detectives began an investigation and have been working to identify a man wanted for questioning in connection with the murder. Authorities have urged anyone with information regarding the shooting or the individual seen in surveillance footage to contact Crime Stoppers. The investigation into the death of Elmer Allen Rea remains ongoing as police continue their search for the person responsible for his death.
