On a cold evening in Memphis, Tennessee, the life of 31-year-old Sherrina Young Malone, a Black female, was tragically cut short. On January 2, 2021, while at the Wash World laundromat in the Hickory Hill neighborhood, Sherrina was the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred during a robbery. The incident unfolded just before 9 p.m. as she was getting clothes out of her car.
At the time of the attack, Sherrina was on the phone with her husband.
He heard the gunshot and, along with his mother, rushed to the scene. Tragically, by the time they arrived, the assailants had fled. Witnesses reported seeing a man standing by her car and firing a shot. Following the shooting, two other individuals were seen searching through her vehicle before all three suspects fled in a sedan. The brazen act of violence left a community in shock and a family devastated.
Despite the immediate response of law enforcement and subsequent investigations, the case of Sherrina Young Malone's murder remains unsolved. To date, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified.
