In October of 2016, the life of 28-year-old Bria Isaac was tragically cut short in her Memphis, Tennessee apartment. Her family, concerned after not hearing from her, made the devastating discovery of her body in the bathtub of her residence at the Grace Heritage Apartments on Monroe. An investigation revealed that she had died from gunshot wounds to her head and chest.
Bria was a hardworking woman, holding down two jobs, one of which was at a fast-food restaurant near her home.
The investigation into her death quickly focused on her long-time, on-again, off-again boyfriend, Joshua Fisher. Their decade-long relationship was described as being marred by domestic violence. In a significant development, as Bria's family was clearing out her apartment, a gun fell from a couch. Ballistics testing later confirmed this to be the weapon used in her murder. This discovery, coupled with reported confessions Fisher made to two witnesses, solidified the case against him.
Approximately two months after Bria's death, Joshua Fisher, then 32 years old, was arrested in Stanton, Tennessee, about 50 miles northeast of Memphis. He was subsequently indicted on a charge of first-degree murder. The legal proceedings that followed highlighted the tumultuous and abusive nature of his relationship with Bria. In September 2018, a jury found Joshua Fisher guilty of the first-degree murder of Bria Isaac. Following the conviction, he was automatically sentenced to life in prison.
