In the late afternoon of May 16, 2021, a tragedy unfolded on the streets of Clarksville, Tennessee, that cut short the life of 20-year-old Khalil Izaiah Robinson. A Black male, Robinson was found lying in the road at the intersection of Peachers Mill Road and Henry Place Boulevard with multiple gunshot wounds. The call came in to the Clarksville Police Department at approximately 5:41 p.m.
Despite the efforts of first responders, Robinson was pronounced dead shortly after their arrival.
The investigation into Robinson's death was quickly classified as a homicide. Detectives discovered that shortly before the shooting, Robinson had been at a convenience store. Surveillance footage from the store and other local businesses revealed that his vehicle was being followed by a black Nissan Rogue SUV just moments before the fatal encounter. This vehicle, believed to be a 2014-2020 model, was last seen turning right onto Tiny Town Road from Peachers Mill Road after the shooting. The Clarksville Police Department released images of the vehicle to the public in the hopes of generating leads.
As of today, the case remains unsolved, and no arrests have been made. While investigators have identified persons of interest, they have not yet gathered sufficient evidence to bring charges against any individual. The Clarksville Police Department continues to appeal to the public for any information that might lead to a breakthrough in the case. A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered by the Clarksville Montgomery County Crime Stoppers for information that leads to an arrest.
Khalil Robinson's family, including his mother Celia Kelly, continues to hold out hope for justice. They have spoken publicly about their pain and their desire for answers, urging anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to come forward. Annual memorials are held on the anniversary of his death, where family and friends gather to release balloons and pray for the day that those responsible for his death will be held accountable. Known affectionately as 'KRob,' Robinson is remembered for his contagious smile and his love for his daughter, Khalia.
