In the winter of 2024, the life of Wannye' Boone, a 24-year-old man from Clarksville, Tennessee, was tragically cut short. Known affectionately as 'Chubbs,' Wannye' was a beloved son, grandson, brother, and uncle who was known for his ability to light up a room and make people feel heard. He had a passion for music, with a unique freestyle flow, and had been active in various youth sports in his community, including football, baseball, and basketball.
On the afternoon of Sunday, December 29th, an argument erupted between Wannye' and his cousin, 21-year-old Jae'Shon Jermaine Bailey, at the Fieldstone Village apartment complex on Dunlop Lane. The dispute escalated, leading to a fatal shooting that left Wannye' with numerous gunshot wounds. Witnesses at the scene identified Bailey as the shooter.
In a surprising turn of events, Bailey's own mother brought him back to the scene of the crime and surrendered him to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office. She also provided the authorities with the firearm she claimed her son used in the shooting. During questioning, Bailey admitted to shooting his cousin, stating that he believed Wannye' had a gun, although he also acknowledged that his cousin never drew a weapon.
Jae'Shon Jermaine Bailey was arrested and charged with criminal homicide. He was subsequently booked into the Montgomery County Jail. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, with law enforcement examining the evidence, including the location of shell casings at the scene which may contradict Bailey's account of the events.
