Braylon Murray, a 17-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on August 3, 2021, in Memphis, Tennessee. He was the grandson of Sarah Carpenter, a well-known community activist and founder of Memphis Lift, an education advocacy organization. Braylon was shot and killed at a car wash on North Hollywood Street in North Memphis around 1 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
