On April 30, 2023, 16-year-old Jaylan Major from Atlanta, Georgia, was fatally shot at the East Point MARTA station. The incident occurred in the afternoon, with first responders arriving at the scene around 3:30 p.m. to find Major suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite being rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital, Major did not survive his injuries.
