In the Frayser neighborhood of Memphis, Tennessee, a dispute inside a McDonald's restaurant on April 22, 2025, escalated into a fatal shooting, claiming the life of 30-year-old Trivez L. Washington. The incident unfolded in the early evening, at approximately 5:20 p.m., at the McDonald's located in the 3100 block of Thomas Street.
According to reports from the Memphis Police Department, Washington was involved in a physical altercation with another man inside the establishment.
Surveillance footage from the restaurant showed the two engaged in a fight. During the confrontation, a man armed with a gun fired a shot. Despite the initial shot, the fight continued, prompting the gunman to fire several more times. Following the shooting, the suspect and another man who was with him fled the scene. When police arrived, they found Washington behind the front counter; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
In the wake of the shooting, family members remembered Trivez Washington as a beloved and peaceful person, and a father to a young son. They expressed their profound grief and disbelief over his sudden and violent death, noting that he was unarmed at the time of the incident. His family initiated a GoFundMe campaign to assist with funeral expenses.
The Memphis Police Department has released images of two men considered persons of interest in the shooting and have asked for the public's assistance in identifying them. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Trivez Washington, and the investigation remains ongoing. This incident was one of three separate and unrelated fatal shootings that occurred in Memphis on the same day.
