On a tragic Tuesday in Memphis, Tennessee, the life of 37-year-old Demetria Dortch was cut short in an act of workplace violence. The shooting occurred on October 12, 2021, at the East Lamar Carrier Annex, a United States Postal Service facility in the Orange Mound neighborhood. Dortch, a customer service supervisor, was fatally shot by a co-worker during a violent rampage.
