On January 10, 2022, Tatina J. Buddington, a 28-year-old woman from Charlotte, North Carolina, was found dead inside a rental cabin in Sevierville, Tennessee. She had suffered a gunshot wound. The incident occurred at around 8:30 a.m. when Sevier County authorities responded to a 911 call about a shooting at the cabin located on Smoky Ridge Way.
The investigation revealed that Daekwon K. Dodd, Buddington's 26-year-old boyfriend from Charlotte, North Carolina, was involved in the incident.
