In the afternoon hours of a Friday in Knoxville, Tennessee, a young man's heroic act of intervention in a domestic dispute tragically cost him his life. John Mack Jr., a 24-year-old father of two, was fatally shot on May 20, 2022, after he stepped in to help a woman who was being threatened by an armed man. The incident unfolded at the corner of Texas Avenue and Pascal when Roshan Smith reportedly began arguing with the mother of his child while brandishing a handgun.
