In the summer of 1906, the life of 38-year-old Deputy Sheriff William Walker, a White/Caucasian male, was cut short in a violent encounter near Knoxville, Tennessee. On the evening of Saturday, July 14, 1906, Deputy Walker was at his home when a local doctor arrived in distress, reporting that he had just been robbed of his horse and buggy. Walker agreed to accompany the doctor to locate the culprits.
