In the early morning hours of July 14, 2022, the life of 22-year-old Mareck Brown of Springfield, Tennessee, was tragically cut short on Tiny Town Road in Clarksville. Police responded to a call about an unconscious man near Allen Road at approximately 3:56 a.m. and found Brown with a bump on his head, bleeding from his nose and ears. He was quickly transported to Tennova Healthcare-Clarksville.
At the hospital, the full and devastating extent of his injuries was discovered: a gunshot
wound to the head. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Mareck Brown was pronounced dead. The investigation into his death quickly revealed that it was not a random act of violence. Detectives with the Clarksville Police Special Operations Homicide Unit determined that Brown was acquainted with his assailant and that they had been traveling in the same vehicle when the shooting occurred.
The investigation led police to 21-year-old Darean Parrish, also of Springfield. Following the shooting, Parrish fled to Springfield where he was taken into custody by authorities. He was subsequently charged with homicide and theft in connection with Brown's death. Authorities have not released further details about the motive behind the shooting or the circumstances that led to the fatal encounter between the two acquaintances.
