In the late morning of February 17, 2022, the life of 20-year-old Decarlos Perkins, a male resident of Clarksville, Tennessee, was tragically cut short. Just before noon, Clarksville Police received a distressing call about a person who had been shot and was lying on the ground in the area of Manning Drive and Wynwood Drive. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Perkins suffering from gunshot wounds. He was quickly transported to a local hospital, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into the homicide of Decarlos Perkins was immediately undertaken by the Clarksville Police Department's Special Operations Homicide Unit. Their efforts led to a breakthrough a few months later. On May 19, 2022, detectives arrested 18-year-old Darius Archibald, charging him with criminal homicide in connection with Perkins' death. The investigation, however, was far from over, as authorities believed others were involved in the fatal shooting that occurred outside of Perkins' residence.
Continuing their diligent work, investigators identified a second individual believed to be responsible for the death of Decarlos Perkins. On July 1, 2022, a second suspect, 18-year-old Zsayonna Price, was taken into custody and also charged with criminal homicide. Both Archibald and Price were booked into the Montgomery County Jail. While these arrests marked significant progress in the case, law enforcement officials indicated that the investigation remained active, suggesting that further arrests were a possibility as they continued to piece together the events that led to the untimely death of the young man.
