In the early morning hours of March 30, 2015, a fatal encounter in Clarksville, Tennessee, claimed the life of 61-year-old Leonard Anthony Bacarella. The Murfreesboro man, a male, was at a residence on Memorial Drive when he was shot. Despite efforts to get him to Vanderbilt Medical Center for treatment, Bacarella succumbed to his injuries at the scene before he could be airlifted.
Authorities were quick to respond, and a suspect was immediately taken into custody.
William Buchanan, a 36-year-old from Clarksville, was arrested and charged with criminal homicide. Investigators at the time indicated that the shooting was not a random act of violence, suggesting that Bacarella and Buchanan were acquainted with each other. Buchanan was booked into the Montgomery County Jail and held without bond. The investigation suggested the incident was isolated and not connected to any other criminal activities in the area.
