Rakeim Roc Graves, a 17-year-old African American male, was tragically shot and killed on August 9, 1997, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Graves was riding his bike home when he encountered a grey, four-door car with tinted windows parked on the corner of 52nd and Delancey Streets. Words were exchanged between Graves and the driver of the car, and as Graves attempted to ride away, the driver shot him in the back.
