In the late hours of a summer night in Chester, Pennsylvania, the lives of two young men were tragically cut short. On August 19, 2013, David Colon Jr., a 22-year-old Hispanic male, was with 18-year-old Frank Perkins in the 1300 block of West 7th Street. As they made their way up a path leading towards the Chester Apartments around 11:25 p.m., both were shot in the back.
Perkins was pronounced dead at the scene.
Colon was rushed to a nearby hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries a short time later. He had been a resident of the 700 block of Jeffrey Street. The shooting was part of a violent night in Chester that saw a total of three fatalities and left others injured.
In the years following the deaths of David Colon Jr. and Frank Perkins, their case has remained unsolved. Despite the violent and public nature of the killings, no arrests have been made and no suspects have been publicly identified.
